How much did the room cost?

Being an Accor Live Limitless Classic Member entitles you to discounted rates but limited benefits of advance access to private sales on all.accor.com and online check-in and check-out.

For a one-night stay in The Renascence Deluxe King Size Bed Suite with breakfast, the room cost was £283.10 during June 2021. Included with the rate was free soft drinks in the room minibar and two complimentary alcoholic drinks in the bar area.

Additional charges for the stay included a breakfast tray charge of £7.50 and £15.00 for parking.

That made it a total of £305.60 excluding bar drinks added to the bill.

Check-in

We arrived at the hotel before the check-in time of 2.00 pm, and the room was not ready. Fortunately, we arrived by car, used the hotel car park, and left our luggage in the boot.

When we returned after going to a local food festival in the park behind the hotel, our room was ready, and check-in was quick and easy.

The Room

The Renascence Deluxe King Size Bed Suite was named the Cambray Suite at the hotel’s front overlooking Imperial Gardens.

The room was tastefully decorated with a King Size bed and approximately 48 square metres in size, giving ample space to relax.

Free Wi-Fi I along with a decent-sized TV and complimentary soft drinks in the minibar.

Added touches included a Nespresso coffee machine, Bose Soundstation, bathrobes and slippers.

Basics were also available with a kettle, iron and ironing board in the room.

The room was clean, and there was ample wardrobe space located behind the partition.

However, as with many UK hotels rooms, air conditioning systems are poor, and the room was warm due to it being late June.

Bathroom

The bathroom was spacious, with a shower and a free-standing bath.

If you prefer a shower to a bath, the water pressure is intense and easy to control.

If you don’t bring your toiletries, the hotel provides complimentary shampoo, conditioner, body wash and soap by the White Company.

Food & Drink

We generally don’t eat at hotels on one-night stays, which was no exception during our visit.

There was a food festival at Montpellier Gardens not far from the hotel, and we enjoyed several drinks and food before checking in.

However, we did have vouchers for free drinks at the bar and decided to use them after eating at Cote Brasserie for dinner.

The bar at Queens Hotel Cheltenham

Unfortunately, the bar was packed, and we moved to the seating area near reception due to our timing.

The only problem was we waited over twenty minutes and didn’t get served, so we moved back to the bar area and got some seats.

We accepted it was busy and some Covid restrictions were still in place, but it took another twenty minutes before we got a drink!

However, the bar manager realised, and we got an additional free drink due to the poor initial service.

Breakfast

We decided to have breakfast in the room and paid a £7.50 tray charge for the convenience of eating in the room.

Staff and Service

On the whole, the service was good, and the staff were accommodating. The only issue was the slow service at the bar.

Summary: Queens Hotel Cheltenham – MGallery

Overall I enjoyed the hotel stay, and it met our expectations; therefore, we would book again. There were a few issues but nothing major and an excellent location in Cheltenham.
