Sol Oasis Marrakech All Inclusive Resort Review

Sol Oasis Marrakech Resort Review

Although a few shortcomings overshadowed our stay at Sol Oasis Marrakech, the experience largely aligned with what one might expect from a four-star all-inclusive resort.

The check-in process was slower than anticipated, which proved disappointing. Despite booking through British Airways Holidays, our Meliá Gold Status was neither acknowledged nor recognised — a missed opportunity for a more personalised welcome.

The rooms, while clean and comfortable, were smaller than expected, leading to a slightly cramped feel and limited storage space.

The dining experience began on a high note, with an attractive selection of dishes, but soon became repetitive and lacked the variety we had hoped for. Expanding the menu options could significantly enhance the overall guest experience and elevate the resort’s appeal.

Location

The Sol Oasis All-Inclusive Hotel in Marrakech enjoys a peaceful setting on the city’s outskirts, providing a relaxing retreat just a half-hour drive from Marrakech Menara Airport. Its tranquil position allows guests to unwind away from the bustle while remaining conveniently connected to key attractions.

From the resort, travellers can easily reach the lively Medina and iconic landmarks such as the vibrant Jemaa el-Fnaa, making it an excellent base for discovering the city’s rich culture, history, and charm.

The property itself blends modern comforts with traditional Moroccan architectural touches, creating an inviting atmosphere that complements its serene surroundings.

Hotel Services & Facilities

Sol Oasis Marrakech provides a wide range of services designed to ensure both comfort and convenience throughout your stay.

The 24-hour reception and on-site ATM add practical ease, while the resort’s daily and evening entertainment programme caters to guests who enjoy organised activities and lively shows.

Guests can relax by the spacious outdoor pool — heated during the winter months — or keep active at the well-equipped gym, tennis court, and multi-sports court.

Families are particularly well catered for, with dedicated family rooms, a vibrant kids’ club, and a fun splash park that keeps younger guests entertained.

For dining, the hotel offers a buffet restaurant and a handy snack bar for quick bites throughout the day.

Check-in

Upon arrival, guests should be aware of the mandatory Tourism and City Tax, which amounts to approximately 73 Moroccan Dirham (around £5.80) per day. At Sol Oasis Marrakech, this additional payment unfortunately created a bottleneck at reception, slowing down the process for newly arriving guests.

Despite reaching the hotel on schedule, we experienced a longer-than-expected wait before gaining access to our room. The check-in area felt somewhat disorganised during peak time, which added to the overall frustration and left a less-than-ideal first impression.

Sol Room

Our stay in the Sol Room offered a blend of positives and drawbacks. While the space was smaller than expected, it was impeccably maintained throughout our visit. The furnishings appeared slightly dated, and the bathroom would benefit from a refresh, though it remained functional.

Storage was limited, so guests planning a longer stay may want to pack with care. The minibar did not include soft drinks or alcoholic beverages, but it was thoughtfully stocked with bottled water. The double bed, though not especially luxurious, provided a comfortable night’s sleep. A wall-mounted television was available, although we didn’t use it during our stay.

TEST

The bathroom featured a decent shower, with complimentary shampoo and body wash provided. However, there was a noticeable shortage of toilet paper during our stay, and we had to request replacements on several occasions.

One of the highlights was the outdoor area near Room 2202. A small bistro table and chairs offered a lovely spot to unwind, enjoy a drink, and take in the evening entertainment from a peaceful distance. This elevated first-floor setting added welcome charm and extra space to an otherwise modest room.

Restaurants & Bars

he dining experience at Sol Oasis Marrakech was one of the resort’s weaker points. Although the food was generally acceptable, the menu lacked variety and became repetitive, with similar dishes appearing each day.

The main dining venue, Darna Restaurant, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a buffet format. Despite themed evenings being advertised, the selections remained largely unchanged throughout our stay. On a positive note, the restaurant was never overcrowded, and breakfast stood out as the highlight, offering the most consistency and quality.

Although Sol Oasis is an all-inclusive resort, two additional dining options are available at an extra cost. Café Maure offers traditional Moroccan cuisine, while Safran serves tapas-style dishes. We chose to dine at Safran, but the surcharge didn’t feel worthwhile, especially given that alcohol required an additional fee, with only soft drinks included.

During the day, the Majmar Bar by the pool draws the biggest crowds, particularly during evening entertainment. We often avoided it due to slow service, though the wood-fired pizzas available there were a nice touch.

For a more relaxed atmosphere, the Kass Bar proved to be the superior choice. Service was consistently excellent, and the space offered the best of both worlds — indoor seating for a cool respite and an outdoor terrace for enjoying the sun.

Pool Area

The main swimming pool at Sol Oasis Marrakech is heated from November to March. As we visited in April, the water was on the cooler side, though still perfectly manageable for a refreshing swim.

The pool spans approximately 500 square metres, providing ample space, and we never had difficulty finding a sunbed. However, staff mentioned that during the peak summer months, securing a lounger can become competitive, with guests reserving them early each morning.

The dedicated children’s pool — referred to by the hotel as the splash park — covers around 100 square metres and offered a great area for kids to play. Similar to the main pool, it remained cool and pleasantly quiet throughout our stay, making it a comfortable and relaxed spot for families.

One recurring inconvenience was the late availability of pool towels in the mornings. Towels were often not set out until after 9:00 am, and on some days even later, which was slightly frustrating for those heading out early to enjoy the sun.

Staff & Service

Overall, service at Sol Oasis Marrakech was a mixed experience. The staff at Darna Restaurant and the Kass Bar were consistently warm, attentive, and efficient, contributing positively to our stay. In contrast, the atmosphere at the Majmar Bar felt far more hectic. Due to the high footfall, staff there occasionally struggled to keep up with demand, which affected the service quality.

Poolside service was virtually non-existent, though on rare occasions we were offered complimentary water. At reception, staff were polite and helpful, but both check-in and check-out processes were noticeably slow, which made these key moments feel more tedious than necessary.

Conclusion – Overall Rating: 3 out of 5

Sol Oasis Marrakech provides a pleasant escape just outside the city, combining peaceful surroundings with easy access to Marrakech’s cultural highlights. The resort delivers comfortable accommodation, friendly staff in key areas, and good pool facilities. However, repetitive dining, inconsistent service, and room limitations prevent it from fully living up to its four-star, all-inclusive promise.

Still, for travellers seeking an affordable and relaxing base with some strong family-friendly features, Sol Oasis Marrakech offers good value for money — with room for improvement.
