Sol Oasis Marrakech All-Inclusive Resort Review: Is it Worth Booking in 2024?

Sol Oasis Marrakech All-Inclusive Resort Review

Our Sol Oasis Marrakech All-Inclusive Resort Review is based on our five-night stay at this four-star all-inclusive resort in the peaceful Palmeraie area of Marrakech.

In this Sol Oasis Marrakech All-Inclusive Resort Review, we share our honest experience of the rooms, food, pool, bars, service, and overall value. While the resort had some good points, including a relaxed setting and pleasant pool area, the slow check-in, smaller rooms and repetitive food meant our stay felt more average than memorable.

Why We Booked Sol Oasis Marrakech

We booked Sol Oasis Marrakech through British Airways Holidays. One of the main reasons for choosing this hotel was the double-tier point offer, which allowed us to earn 480 British Airways Executive Club tier points.

As Melia Gold members, we were also looking forward to trying another Melia property. However, we did have some reservations before travelling. Sol Oasis Marrakech is a four-star all-inclusive resort, and, in my experience, this type of hotel can sometimes be hit-and-miss.

That said, the hotel had good online reviews, looked attractive in photos, and offered a quiet, resort-style base outside the busy centre of Marrakech.

For this Sol Oasis Marrakech All-Inclusive Resort Review, we wanted to judge the hotel fairly as a four-star all-inclusive resort rather than compare it to a luxury five-star property.

Sol Oasis Marrakech All-Inclusive Resort Review: Arrival and Check-In

Our first impression was not the strongest.

Sol Oasis Marrakech Arrival Check-In

Check-in took longer than expected, and the process felt a little disorganised. After a journey, most guests want to get their room key and start relaxing, so the delay was frustrating.

There was also a daily Tourism and City Tax to pay, which was around 73 Moroccan Dirham, or approximately £5.80 per day. This appeared to cause a bottleneck at reception, increasing waiting time.

Another disappointment was that our Melia Gold status was not acknowledged. We were not expecting anything dramatic, but a simple mention would have been appreciated.

The reception staff were helpful enough, but the overall check-in experience could definitely be improved.

Location

Sol Oasis Marrakech is located in the Palmeraie area, on the quieter outskirts of Marrakech. This gives the hotel a peaceful feel and makes it a good option for guests who want to escape the noise and energy of the city centre.

The resort is around 30 minutes from Marrakech Menara Airport, depending on traffic. It is also close enough to visit the Medina, Jemaa el-Fnaa and other main attractions.

For us, the location worked well. We liked being outside the busy centre, especially after a day exploring Marrakech. The hotel felt calm, spacious and easy to relax in.

However, this location may not suit everyone. If you want to walk out of your hotel and be immediately surrounded by restaurants, markets and nightlife, you may prefer to stay closer to the Medina.

The Resort Grounds and Facilities

The hotel has a pleasant resort feel, with a mix of modern comfort and Moroccan-inspired design. The gardens and outdoor areas help create a relaxed holiday atmosphere.

Facilities include a large outdoor swimming pool, children’s splash park, gym, tennis court, multi-sports court, buffet restaurant, snack bar, kids’ club, 24-hour reception, ATM in the lobby and evening entertainment.

Our Sol Room

It is clearly a family-friendly resort, but during our stay, it still felt calm enough for couples or adults looking for a simple break in the sun.

Sol Room 2202 Limited Storage Space

We stayed in a standard Sol Room. The room was clean and well-maintained, but it was smaller than expected.

For a short stay, it was manageable. However, for a longer holiday, the lack of storage could become frustrating. There was limited wardrobe space, and we felt the room became cramped quite quickly once cases and belongings were unpacked.

The furnishings were comfortable but a little dated in places. The bed was fine and gave us a decent night’s sleep, although it was not especially luxurious.

The room included a wall-mounted television, a minibar and bottled water. However, the minibar did not include soft drinks or alcoholic drinks, which felt a little underwhelming for an all-inclusive resort.

The room is one area where expectations need to be realistic. It was clean and comfortable, but it was not spacious or premium.

Bathroom

The bathroom was perfectly usable and had a decent shower. Shampoo and body wash were provided by the hotel.

However, the bathroom could benefit from some attention and updating. It was clean, but it did not feel particularly fresh or modern.

We also experienced a shortage of toilet roll during our stay and had to ask for replacements a few times. This is a small issue, but it is the kind of detail that should be easy for a hotel to get right.

The Best Part of the Room

One of the nicest surprises was the outside space near our room.

We had a small bistro table and chairs outside, and because the room was on the first floor, there was extra space to sit and relax. In the evening, this became a lovely spot to enjoy a drink and watch the entertainment from a distance without being right in the middle of it.

This little area made the room feel more enjoyable and gave us somewhere quiet to unwind.

Sol Oasis Marrakech All Inclusive Resort Review: Food and Drink

Food was one of the weaker parts of our stay.

The main restaurant is Darna, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is a buffet-style restaurant and is included as part of the all-inclusive package.

Breakfast was the best meal of the day. There was enough choice, and it was a pleasant way to start the morning. We also liked that the restaurant never felt overcrowded during our visit.

Lunch and dinner were less impressive. Although the hotel offered themed nights, the food options felt very similar from day to day. After the first couple of days, the buffet became repetitive.

The food was not terrible, but it was average. It filled a gap, but it did not make us look forward to meal times.

One of the main points in our Sol Oasis Marrakech All Inclusive Resort Review is that the food was acceptable but became repetitive during our five-night stay. For a four-star all-inclusive resort, we would have liked more variety, stronger flavours and a little more creativity.

Although Sol Oasis Marrakech is an all-inclusive hotel, there are two extra dining options available at an additional cost.

Cafe Maure offers traditional Moroccan food, while Safran is a tapas restaurant.

We booked Safran during our stay, but we did not feel the extra charge represented great value for money. Soft drinks were included, but alcohol came at an additional cost, which felt disappointing when staying on an all-inclusive basis.

For us, the paid option did not add enough to the overall experience.

Bars and Drinks

The Majmar Bar by the pool was busy during the day and again in the evening when entertainment was taking place. Service here could be slow, so we tended to avoid it.

The Kass Bar was much better. It had a calmer atmosphere, and the service was excellent throughout the day. We liked that you could sit inside to cool down or outside in the sun.

For us, the Kass Bar was the best place for drinks during our stay. It felt more relaxed, more comfortable and better managed.

Pool Area

The main swimming pool is one of the hotel’s strongest features. It is around 500 square metres and provides plenty of space for a swim or a relaxed day by the water.

The pool is heated from November to March. We visited in April, so the water was cold but still bearable once you were in.

During our stay, we had no problem finding sunbeds. However, we were told that the pool area can become much busier during the summer months, with guests reserving loungers early in the morning.

This is worth keeping in mind if you are visiting in peak season.

Kids’ Splash Park

The children’s splash park is a good feature for families. It is around 100 square metres and provides younger guests with a safe, fun place to enjoy the water.

As in the main pool, the water was cool during our stay, and the area was pleasantly quiet.

Families with children will likely appreciate this part of the resort, especially during warmer months.

Pool Towels

One small frustration was the availability of pool towels.

In the mornings, towels were often unavailable until after 9:00 am, sometimes even later. This is not a major problem, but it is another small detail that could be improved.

At an all-inclusive resort, guests expect these basic services to run smoothly.

Entertainment

As with many all-inclusive resorts, Sol Oasis Marrakech offers daytime and evening entertainment.

This will appeal more to some guests than others. We did not base our stay around the entertainment, but it did add some atmosphere in the evening.

Because our room had a good outside seating area, we could enjoy some of the entertainment from a distance, which suited us perfectly.

Staff and Service

Service was mixed across the hotel.

The staff in Darna Restaurant were friendly and efficient. We also found the service in Kass Bar to be excellent, and this was one of the most positive parts of our stay.

The reception staff were helpful, but check-in and check-out were slow.

The pool bar struggled at busy times, and poolside service was almost non-existent. On rare occasions, we were offered water, but generally, guests had to go to the bar themselves.

Overall, the staff were pleasant, but the service standards were inconsistent.

Who Would Enjoy Sol Oasis Marrakech?

Sol Oasis Marrakech would suit travellers looking for a simple, relaxed all-inclusive break outside the centre of Marrakech.

It is a good option for families, especially because of the splash park, kids’ club and spacious pool area.

It may also suit couples who want a quiet base, easy food and drinks, and access to Marrakech without staying in the city centre.

However, it may not be the best choice for travellers seeking luxury, standout dining, large rooms, or polished five-star service.

What We Liked

We liked the peaceful location, the relaxed resort feel, the clean room and the good outside seating area near our room.

The main pool was a nice space, and we had no issue finding sunbeds during our stay.

The Kass Bar was a highlight, with excellent service and a much calmer atmosphere than the pool bar.

Breakfast was also the strongest part of the food offering.

What Could Be Improved

The check-in process needs to be quicker and better organised.

The rooms, while clean, are small and need more storage. The bathrooms could also do with some attention.

The biggest improvement needed is the food. The buffet became repetitive, and the quality was average rather than memorable.

Pool towels should also be available earlier in the morning, and poolside service could be much better.

Is Sol Oasis Marrakech a good value?

Sol Oasis Marrakech can be a good value if you book at the right price and keep expectations realistic.

This is not a luxury resort, and it does not offer a premium all-inclusive experience. However, it does provide a clean, comfortable base with good facilities, a large pool and a peaceful location.

For us, the hotel met expectations rather than exceeded them.

The British Airways Holidays tier-point offer added value to our booking, but judging the hotel alone, we would say it is a decent, average four-star resort.

Sol Oasis Marrakech All-Inclusive Resort Review: Final Verdict

To conclude our Sol Oasis Marrakech All Inclusive Resort Review, we would say Sol Oasis Marrakech is a pleasant but average four-star resort that met expectations without exceeding them.

The setting is peaceful, the pool area is pleasant, and some of the staff were excellent. However, the slow check-in, small rooms, limited storage, repetitive food, and inconsistent service held back the experience.

We would recommend Sol Oasis Marrakech if you are looking for a straightforward four-star all-inclusive resort in Marrakech and you are happy to keep your expectations realistic.

For us, it was a pleasant stay, but not a memorable one.
