Rating: 3 out of 5.

Our Hilton Garden Inn Heathrow Review covers a short but useful stay at the airport before an early flight from Heathrow. We chose this hotel because it is within easy reach of Terminals 2 and 3, making it a very practical choice after connecting through Heathrow Terminal 5.

This stay did not feel luxurious, but it worked well for what we needed: a clean room, a comfortable bed, airport convenience, and a place to have a drink before bed. Overall, the hotel met our expectations rather than exceeded them.

Location

The biggest strength of this hotel comes from its location. The Hilton Garden Inn Heathrow sits close to Terminal 2, with Terminal 3 also within walking distance through the airport walkway.

For us, this made a big difference. We did not need to worry about taxis, shuttle buses, or traffic around Heathrow. After a long journey, we made our way to the hotel and settled in.

For anyone flying early from Terminal 2 or Terminal 3, this hotel makes airport travel much easier.

Check-in Experience

As Hilton Honors Gold Members, we used online check-in and selected our preferred room before arrival. We also prepaid for the stay, which helped make the arrival process feel smooth.

We did not receive a room upgrade, but the reception team handled check-in well. When we explained that we would miss breakfast because of our early flight, the staff member offered us extra Hilton points instead.

That small gesture made a good impression. It showed thought and care, and we appreciated it.

King Room

For this Hilton Garden Inn Heathrow Review, we stayed in a king room on a higher floor with a runway view. As we arrived in the dark, we could not fully enjoy the view, but we could see how it would appeal in daylight.

The room gave us everything we needed for an airport hotel stay. It felt spacious enough for one night and included a fridge, tea and coffee facilities, a desk, and a comfortable bed.

The air conditioning worked well, which we always appreciate in a UK hotel. We also had a good night’s sleep, which matters most before an early flight.

The bathroom included a walk-in shower with both a rainfall showerhead and a handheld showerhead. The hotel provided Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries in wall-mounted dispensers, along with fresh towels, facecloths, a hairdryer, and a well-lit mirror area.

Food and Drink

We did not eat dinner or breakfast at the hotel, so this Hilton Garden Inn Heathrow Review focuses on the bars rather than the restaurant.

The hotel offers The Apron Restaurant & Bar, the Runway Bar, and a small 24-hour snack shop. The Apron menu looked reasonable for a London airport hotel, with dishes such as pizza, burgers, fish and chips, and curry-style options.

We had drinks in both the Runway Bar and the Apron Bar. We also walked over to The Queen’s Arms in Terminal 2 for a change of scene.

The Runway Bar should have felt like the hotel’s highlight. It sits on the 14th floor and offers runway views, but during our January evening visit, it lacked atmosphere. Service felt slow, and the lack of draught beer made it less appealing.

The Apron Bar felt more comfortable, though the service there was also slow. We still enjoyed a bottle of Spanish Chardonnay, and the staff remained pleasant and helpful.

Staff and Service

The reception team gave us the best service during our stay. They explained the hotel facilities clearly and helped us understand our food and drink options.

Bar service did not reach the same level. We waited longer than expected in both the Runway Bar and the Apron Bar. However, the staff remained friendly, so the delays did not completely spoil the evening.

Our Hilton Garden Inn Heathrow Review, therefore, sits somewhere in the middle. The hotel staff were warm and helpful, but the bar operations need more pace and atmosphere.

Overall Verdict

The Hilton Garden Inn Heathrow gave us a practical and comfortable airport stay. It did not feel special, and the Runway Bar disappointed us slightly, but the location, room comfort, and helpful reception staff made the stay worthwhile.

For an early flight from Terminal 2 or Terminal 3, this hotel makes a lot of sense. We would stay again for convenience, but we would keep expectations realistic.
