Elevated British Airways 777-300 Business Class Review in 2025

British Airways 777-300 Business Class

British Airways 777-300 Business Class Review: Club Suites from Heathrow to Sydney via Singapore Rating

Overall rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 out of 5
Expectation Level: Exceed Expectations, with an excellent crew making the biggest difference
Best For: BA Executive Club members, Avios collectors, Amex Companion Voucher users, couples heading to Australia
Not Ideal For: Travellers expecting flawless food, luxury consistency, or the world’s most polished business class

Our wider journey started in Manchester, where we connected to British Airways First Class to London Heathrow. However, this review focuses only on our British Airways 777-300 Business Class experience from London Heathrow to Sydney via Singapore, rather than the short domestic positioning flight from Manchester to Heathrow.

Our British Airways 777-300 Business Class trip continued from London Heathrow to Sydney via Singapore in March 2025. We booked the return journey using an American Express Companion Voucher, 335,000 Avios and £1,700 in taxes and fees.

We felt lucky to secure the flights. The London to Sydney route remains one of the most sought-after redemptions for BA Executive Club members, especially when using a Companion Voucher in Club World. If we had purchased the tickets with cash, the return journey would have cost over £15,000, and that is not an amount we would pay for a business class ticket. Using Avios and the Companion Voucher made the trip possible and gave the redemption real value.

For our journey, we flew in Club Suites on the Boeing 777-300. We selected seats 5K and 6K in the front Club World cabin, which gave us window seats, direct aisle access, and a quieter feel than the larger business class cabin behind us.

Route and Flight Details

Though our full routing began in Manchester, the main long-haul journey started at London Heathrow Terminal 5. The first long-haul sector operated from Heathrow to Singapore, followed by the onward sector from Singapore to Sydney.

Our flight, BA15, departed Heathrow at 21:31, slightly after the scheduled 21:10 departure, and landed in Singapore at 18:41 after a flight time of 13 hours and 11 minutes.

The flight into Singapore took slightly longer than expected because the pilot had to perform a go-around on approach. Another aircraft was still on the runway as we came in to land, so the aircraft climbed away and circled before making a second approach into Singapore.

After Singapore, we continued on the same route to Sydney. Our wider door-to-door journey from home to Auckland via Sydney took nearly 42 hours, so we had to think carefully about sleep. We tried not to sleep too much on the first leg from London to Singapore, then used the second leg from Singapore to Sydney for proper rest.

After arriving in Sydney, we planned a stopover before flying LATAM Business Class onwards to Auckland.

Heathrow and Pre-Flight Experience

When we landed at Heathrow from Manchester, we had no connecting flights or transit. Instead, we entered Terminal 5 and went back through the British Airways First Wing to collect our boarding passes for the long-haul journey. We travelled with hand luggage only on this adventure, which made the process easier.

We chose this route because getting tickets issued at Manchester Airport can be a nightmare, and we did not feel it was worth waiting in the queues there. As British Airways Gold Club members, we could use the First Wing at Heathrow, which made the process feel much smoother and more premium.

After collecting our boarding passes and clearing security, we used the Galleries First Lounge rather than the usually overcrowded Business Class lounges at Heathrow Terminal 5. That made the pre-flight experience much calmer before such a long journey.

The lounge gave us a comfortable place to relax before the flight, although our main focus remained on the onboard experience.

Boarding felt smooth enough, and the front Club World cabin made a strong first impression as we stepped on board.

Seats 5K and 6K in the Front Club World Cabin

Our seats, 5K and 6K, sat on the right-hand side of the front Club World cabin. We liked this position because the cabin felt smaller and calmer than the larger business-class section farther back.

The British Airways 777-300 Business Class Seat Map showed BA’s four-class Boeing 777-300ER layout. Our seats were in the smaller front Club World cabin, directly behind First Class, which gave the cabin a quieter, more premium feel.

The Club Suite itself gave us direct aisle access, a sliding privacy door and a proper personal space. These two details make a major difference compared with the older Club World seat.

The seat felt comfortable for sitting, relaxing and sleeping. The darker finishes, storage areas and window-side position helped the suite feel more premium. The seat did not feel quite as elegant as some newer business class products from other airlines, but it still represented a major improvement over BA’s older Club World layout.

Club Suite Comfort and Storage

The British Airways 777-300 Business Class Club Suite offered enough space for a long-haul journey. We liked the side storage, the personal shelf area and the ability to close the suite door after take-off.

The seat controls worked well and allowed us to easily adjust the seat for lounging, dining, and sleeping. The fully flat bed also helped on such a demanding journey. The 198cm bed length makes a real difference on an ultra-long routing such as London to Sydney via Singapore.

We also appreciated the power sockets, USB charging and personal storage. Our photo of the controller and charging area shows a practical setup, although some parts of the suite already showed signs of wear.

The privacy door added value. It did not turn the seat into a First Class suite, but it created a more personal space and helped us relax.

Entertainment and Wi-Fi

The British Airways 777-300 Business Class Club Suite screen looked sharp and easy to use. The 17-inch screen felt large enough for a long flight.

The entertainment selection included recent films, TV, audio and games. Our screen showed films such as Gladiator II, Kraven the Hunter, and We Live in Time. The system felt responsive enough during our flight.

The noise-cancelling headphones looked practical and worked reasonably well. They did not match a top personal pair of headphones, but they did the job for a business class cabin.

Wi-Fi was available on the flight, but we tend not to use it, and the cost ranged from £4.99 to £21.99.

Lavatories and Cabin Cleanliness

The onboard lavatories looked clean enough during our flights. Our photo shows a standard aircraft lavatory with White Company-style toiletries available near the sink.

The lavatories did not feel luxurious, but they remained functional and acceptable throughout the journey. In a full long-haul business-class cabin, clean lavatories matter, and the crew appeared to manage them well.

The suite itself felt tidy at boarding, although some surfaces showed signs of age and use. The Club Suite product still feels good, but BA needs consistent maintenance to keep it looking premium.

Food and Drink

Our food experience felt mixed but generally enjoyable. The presentation was okay, and the service felt organised across both long-haul sectors.

Carrot and Coriander Soup with Garlic Croutons | Chicken in Black Bean Sauce, Steamed Bok Choy and Jasmine Rice

On the first leg from London Heathrow to Singapore, we started with carrot and coriander soup with garlic croutons. For the main course, we had chicken in black bean sauce with steamed bok choy and jasmine rice.

The dish suited the route, and the flavours felt more interesting than a standard reheated business class meal. The rice, vegetables and sauce made the plate feel substantial, and it was one of the better dishes we had on the journey.

British Airways Business Class Original Full English Breakfast

About an hour and a half before landing in Singapore, British Airways served breakfast. We chose the full English-style breakfast, which included scrambled egg, bacon, sausage, tomato and mushrooms, alongside a croissant, jam, butter, yoghurt and water. For a business-class meal, the breakfast was better than the previous meals with British Airways.

On the second leg from Singapore to Sydney, the printed menu offered several proper dining choices. For the starter, we chose the beef bresaola with potato salad and horseradish mayonnaise. Other starter options included pickled pink cauliflower with baby corn, tomatoes, pumpkin, and asparagus, with chimichurri dressing, or cream of artichoke soup with herb croutons.

For the main course, we selected the grilled beef fillet, served with roasted fingerling potatoes, baby carrots, courgette, turnips and grain mustard sauce. The menu also offered lemon-pepper-baked fish with mushroom and bell pepper masala, steamed yellow basmati rice, or mushroom and spinach lasagne with sun-dried tomatoes.

Before landing in Sydney, the breakfast-on-the-fly menu included fruit yoghurt with strawberries, followed by a choice of turkey breast, Brie and spinach wrap or seasonal fresh fruit salad, plus an apple cinnamon muffin. We had the turkey breast option before arrival, which worked as a lighter final meal before landing.

British Airways Business – Food on Second Leg Singapore to Sydney

The Champagne onboard was Palmer & Co Brut Reserve. We enjoyed it, and it felt like a solid business class choice. It did not feel ultra-premium, but it suited the cabin and added to the sense of occasion.

Overall, the British Airways catering worked well for such a long journey. It did not reach the level of the very best international business-class dining, but we appreciated the variety across the London-to-Singapore and Singapore-to-Sydney sectors.

Sleep Strategy on a 42-Hour Journey

Our wider journey took nearly 42 hours from home to Auckland via Sydney, so sleep mattered.

We tried to stay awake on the first leg of the flight from London Heathrow to Singapore. That helped us manage the time difference and saved sleep for the second leg from Singapore to Sydney. The plan worked well because the second flight gave us a better chance to rest before arriving in Australia.

The Club Suite bed helped. The bedding felt comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep, and the privacy door helped create a quieter personal space.

The White Company amenity kit looked smart and included useful basics such as an eye mask, earplugs, a dental kit and toiletries. The hot towel service also added a classic premium-cabin touch.

For sleep, the British Airways 777-300 Business Class Club Suite proved much stronger than BA’s older Club World seat and made the long journey far easier.

Singapore Stop and Lounge

The stop in Singapore helped break up the journey, although the London-to-Sydney trip still felt extremely long. We did not stay long in the British Airways lounge in Singapore because the layover was short, and we wanted to keep the connection simple before boarding the second sector to Sydney.

The lounge had not long been refurbished, so it felt modern, bright and comfortable. However, there was no separate First Class section for British Airways Gold members. As BA Gold members, we would have appreciated a more premium area, especially on such a long route, but the refreshed lounge still worked well enough for a short stop.

For such a long journey, the Singapore stopover helped us stretch our legs and prepare for the second flight. Even so, the overall journey still demanded stamina, especially as we continued beyond Sydney to Auckland.

Cabin Crew

The cabin crew on both legs were excellent. For us, that made the biggest difference.

British Airways can feel inconsistent. Sometimes the hard product looks tired, and sometimes the soft product misses the mark. On these flights, the crew lifted the whole experience. They felt warm, professional and proactive, and they managed the long service flow well.

A good crew can transform a BA flight. On this occasion, the service felt friendly and genuine rather than robotic. We felt looked after throughout the journey, though the crew was less engaged.

What We Liked

We liked the excellent cabin crew, the privacy of the Club Suite, the direct aisle access and the quieter feel of seats 5K and 6K in the front cabin.

The Avios redemption also added huge value. Using 335,000 Avios and an American Express Companion Voucher for a return trip to Sydney gave us a memorable journey that would have cost far more as a cash fare.

The food felt decent overall, the bed helped us sleep on the second leg, and the entertainment screen worked well. The route also felt exciting because the London-to-Sydney route remains one of BA’s most desirable long-haul redemptions.

What Could Improve

The British Airways 777-300 Business Class product still lacks the consistency of the world’s best business class airlines. Some seat finishes looked a little worn, and the food, while enjoyable, did not always feel special.

British Airways can also vary depending on crew, catering and aircraft condition. On this trip, the crew made the experience much better. Without such strong service, the score could have dropped.

The onboard Champagne worked well enough, but it did not feel particularly standout. The Club Suite seat also offers privacy, but it does not feel as spacious or luxurious as some newer business class suites from leading Middle Eastern or Asian airlines.

Final Verdict: British Airways 777-300 Business Class

Our British Airways 777-300 Business Class journey from London Heathrow to Sydney via Singapore gave us a strong and memorable Avios redemption.

The Club Suite significantly improved the trip. Direct aisle access, a privacy door, a fully flat bed and a large screen made the journey much more comfortable than BA’s older Club World seat. Seats 5K and 6K in the front Club World cabin worked very well for us, and we would choose that area again.

The crew on both legs were excellent, and they made the biggest difference. British Airways can feel inconsistent, but these flights showed how good BA can feel when the crew, seat and service all come together.

The food and drink delivered a good business class experience, although not a world-leading one. The aircraft and suite also showed a few signs of wear. Even so, the trip felt enjoyable, comfortable and excellent value thanks to the Companion Voucher and Avios booking.
