American Express Centurion Lounge Mexico City Review Read Time and Rating
Our American Express Centurion Lounge Mexico City Review covers our visit before flying British Airways First Class from Mexico City to London Heathrow. After finding the American Airlines Admirals Club Lounge crowded and disappointing, we decided to try the American Express Centurion Lounge to see if it offered a better pre-flight experience.
We visited because we hold an American Express Platinum Card, which gives us access to the lounge as part of the annual fee. As we already pay for this benefit, we expected the lounge to offer a more comfortable, premium alternative before our long overnight flight.
Sadly, it did not. The lounge felt busy from the start, the queues made the visit frustrating, and the overall experience did not feel relaxing or premium. We had a Monterey Jack cheese, ham, lettuce and tomato sandwich, which worked as a simple snack, but the lounge failed to deliver the calm atmosphere we hoped for before flying home.
In our view, the American Express Centurion Lounge Mexico City Review reflects a lounge with a strong brand name, but a disappointing passenger experience during our visit.

First Impressions
Our first impressions were underwhelming. The lounge had a more recognisable premium brand than the Admirals Club, but the busy atmosphere made it hard to relax.
The number of people inside created a crowded feel, and the queues made the space feel less organised than we expected. Rather than settling in with a drink or enjoying a quiet moment before boarding, we felt like we had to work around the crowd.
A good airport lounge should remove stress before a flight. During our visit, the Centurion Lounge added to it. The lounge did not feel calm, quiet or especially exclusive.
Our American Express Centurion Lounge Mexico City Review, therefore, began with disappointment, mainly because the space could not accommodate the number of people using it.
Seating and Comfort
Seating proved another weak point. The lounge felt too busy, making it harder to find a comfortable place to sit and relax.
When lounges become crowded, comfort quickly disappears. Passengers move around constantly, tables fill up, and the space starts to feel more like a busy café than a premium lounge. That was our experience here.

The seating itself may have looked better than the Admirals Club, but the crowding stopped us from enjoying it properly. We did not feel encouraged to settle in for a long visit, and the lounge did not give us the peaceful pre-flight break we wanted.
Before a long overnight flight, comfort matters. We wanted somewhere to unwind, have a bite to eat and prepare for the journey home. The Centurion Lounge did not provide that level of comfort during our visit.
Food and Drink
Food and drink are a big part of any lounge experience, especially when travelling long-haul. In our case, the food did not rescue the visit.
We had a Monterey Jack cheese, ham, lettuce and tomato sandwich. It was fine as a quick snack, but it did not feel special or memorable. For a Centurion Lounge, we expected something more polished and more appealing.

The sandwich gave us something to eat before the flight, but it did not change our overall view. The lounge still felt crowded, and the food did not give the experience enough lift.
Our American Express Centurion Lounge Mexico City Review does not suggest the food was terrible. The issue comes from expectation. With the Centurion name, we expected a stronger food offering and a more premium feel. The experience felt functional rather than enjoyable.
Atmosphere
The atmosphere became the biggest disappointment. The lounge felt too crowded and too busy to enjoy properly.
A strong lounge experience should make passengers feel removed from the terminal. It should offer comfort, space and a calmer mood before boarding. The Centurion Lounge at Mexico City Airport did not manage that during our visit.
The queues created frustration, while the busy seating areas made the space feel unsettled. Instead of a calm pre-flight pause, the visit felt rushed and underwhelming.
For travellers expecting the usual Centurion Lounge standard, this may come as a disappointment. The lounge had the name, but it did not deliver the experience we expected.
Comparison with the American Airlines Admirals Club
Before visiting the Centurion Lounge, we had used the American Airlines Admirals Club Lounge, which also disappointed us. The Admirals Club felt crowded, basic, and the food quality was poor.
The Centurion Lounge seemed like a better alternative, but the queues and crowding limited its benefits. It may have felt slightly more appealing than the Admirals Club in some ways, but it still did not provide the relaxing pre-flight experience we wanted.
The comparison left us with a simple conclusion: neither lounge gave us a strong start before our British Airways First Class flight. The Centurion Lounge had the stronger brand, but it did not deliver a strong enough experience.
Service
Service did not stand out during our visit. Staff may have worked hard to manage a busy lounge, but the overall experience still felt stretched and impersonal.
Crowding often affects service, and that seemed to happen here. When too many passengers use a lounge, staff spend more time managing demand than creating a warm and polished experience.
We do not blame individual staff members for the disappointment. The main issue came from the lounge environment: too many people, queues, limited comfort and a lack of calm.
Who Is This Lounge Best For?
The American Express Centurion Lounge at Mexico City Airport may suit passengers who already have access and want a quick snack before departure. It may also work better at quieter times, when queues are shorter and seating is easier to find.
However, it did not suit our needs before a long overnight flight to London. We wanted somewhere calm, comfortable and more premium. The lounge did not deliver that during our visit.
If you expect a peaceful Centurion Lounge experience, you may feel disappointed when the lounge gets busy. Our American Express Centurion Lounge Mexico City Review reflects a visit where the crowding completely shaped the experience.
Final Verdict
Our American Express Centurion Lounge Mexico City Review gives a disappointing verdict. We visited after the Admirals Club failed to impress, but the Centurion Lounge did not offer the improvement we hoped for.
The lounge felt busy, queues affected the experience, and the atmosphere did not feel calm or premium. The Monterey Jack cheese, ham, lettuce and tomato sandwich worked as a simple snack, but it did not make the visit memorable.
For a lounge with the Centurion name, we expected more. We wanted a comfortable place to relax before our British Airways First Class night flight to Heathrow. Instead, we found a crowded and underwhelming lounge that failed to meet expectations.
We would only use this lounge again if it looked quiet on arrival. During busy periods, it does not feel worth the queue.
